I’m so excited about being in the same mile radius of Shirley Manson in August

  1. I’m making a poster “SHIRLEY YOU INSPIRE ME”
  2. I’m pre-planning my outfit like a psycho.
  3. My hair will be re-dyed and hopefully will be strikingly turquoise.
  4. I will be arriving as soon as doors open so I can stand hours in the heat in the front and be able to be close to her, even though it will be several bands before she’s in front of me.

I hope to look like a rockstar worthy of being in Shirley Manson’s grace, if I even get the chance. I will even wish her an early happy birthday if I get to be near her, even though it’s much later in the month.

I’ve loved her since I was 12. She is an amazing songwriter and singer. I want her to know I exist and I will be happy for a good amount of my life.

I’m listening to the new Garbage CD.

I’m in heaven.

Shirley Manson is my hero.

“…I was old enough to understand the danger in tying your worth to sex appeal. It’s a trap for women because it’s something they can’t hold on to. To me, who you are is the most important thing. What you do says more about your value in the world than how you look. I really believe that, and those are the strengths you can rely on when things get tough, because they inevitably do. That line of thinking stops women from believing in themselves as artists, from being curious and brave. Instead, we wind up with girls that sound ten a penny, who are coming off tour and having their songs handed to them. We’re not hearing authentic experiences from women.”

I love her voice.

I’m inspired by these ladies.
